Fish and Wildlife Commission To Meet in Cookeville

The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) will complete their monthly meetings in Cookeville.

Chairman Kurt Holbert said it is not uncommon for the commission to meet outside of Nashville.

“Well, it is our desire to meet in different parts of the state so that gives the outdoorsmen, the hunters, and fishermen, the opportunity to come to these meetings,” Holbert said, “and voice their concerns or their support or opposition to some issues.”

The committee meeting will take place today and the full commission will meet on Friday.

“We discuss a wide array of things. We will be talking about everything from commercial fishing to quota hunts, duck blind drawing and anything the public might bring before us today,” Holbert said. “So we will be making decisions today.”

Holbert said the commission welcomes all citizens’ opinions.

“They can comment on any issue,” Holbert said. “We allow them to comment on any issue that is brought up during the meeting.”

The full commission will meet June 21 at the Country Inn & Suites on South Jefferson Avenue.
