Fire Destroys Local Business

A fire at AAA Wholesale Trophies will likely lead to a complete loss for the business.

Cookeville Fire Chief Daryl Blair said the fire was reported at 8:20 Wednesday night.

“Each time we made entry we got held up due to the stock that was in the rear of the building and the layout of it,” Blair said. “It had a heavy load of fire material in it.”

Blair said all four Cookeville stations responded to the fire at the business on Mine Lick Creek Road and made multiple attempts to enter.

“When the first arriving unit arrived on scene they reported that they had smoke showing from the outside,” Blair said. “As the others came in, they started making water supply connections from the hydrants. The first crew then tried to make entry. We made three entry on three different occassions.”

Blair said that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but that investigation will be ongoing during cleanup.

“We’ve not been able to get in there and look at anything,” Blair said. “The building itself, in the structure where some parts of the structure the roof has fell in you can move around a little, but there’s still a lot of debris in it, and it’s going to take awhile.”

Blair said the business may be able to salvage some things out of the structure, but he estimates that it will be a total loss.
