Fentress County will split the cost of maintenance for the IOI Building with the Industrial Development Board.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the Industrial Development Board controlled the maintenance of the IOI building.
“They had done some maintenance on as far as fire extinguishers, several squares of roofing on top and just some upgrading of it,” Johnson said. “They had a bill of 14 thousand some odd dollars. The commission voted to split the cost with them. So it came to a little over seven thousand dollars per each one.”
Johnson said the IOI building was formerly the Tinch School building.
“The IOI building is a former school building that the board of education gave to the county and we had no use for [it] so we had it for several years,” Johnson said. “So last year the commission gave it to the board in hopes that they could place a business or a TCAT or something out there. They tried a couple of items but nothing feel through for them. It didn’t come.”
The Industrial Development Board intends to sell the IOI building in hopes to bring a new business.
The Fentress County Commission also approved appointments and a budget request for the Industrial Development Board.
