Fentress County will apply for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said that the county has applied for a grant to purchase new air packs.
“Your masks, your tanks, your air supply when you go into fires, and of course you have all the COVID now in the buildings you don’t know if it’s there or not,” Johnson said. “Ours have run out of usage date-wise, so we’re going to try to restore it with this.”
Johnson said that the county has previously applied for the AFG. He said that it was used then for automated cots for the county’s ambulance service.
Johnson said that should the county receive the grant, it would require a five to ten percent match.
