Fentress Making Plans To Celebrate Bicentennial Next Year

The Fentress County Chamber of Commerce making plans to celebrate the county and the City of Jamestown turning 200 next year.

Director of Tourism and Membership Seth Vaughn said that the Bicentennial Committee held its first meeting to discuss plans. He said they are brainstorming anything from parades to street festivals.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing and we just want to celebrate Fentress County and its history,” Vaughn said. “Because Fentress County is a beautiful place to live, work, and play, and we just want to take advantage of all the things Fentress County has to offer.”

Vaughn said that although the Bicentennial is not officially until November, they want to celebrate all year long.

He said that they will host more meetings to continue the planning process that the public is welcome to attend. Vaughn said that those interested in assisting should be on the lookout for more information.
