Fentress County Board of Commissions will consider accepting the Americans with Disabilities Act study phase documentation at the next commission meeting.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the county buildings recently underwent an ADA-compliance study in order to make a plan for updates.
“It is just a phase that we are going through at this time. They will be coming back to do a follow-up, I presume,” Johnson said. “Pretty much just to outlay what Mr. Allen Hill of Upland Design has already put together and what needs to be done. Then he will come back with what actually the construction of this project and what needs to be done in the future.”
If the commission accepts the ADA study documentation, the commission can move to approve phase two of the ADA update, Johnson said.
“The next step then would be to go to phase two,” Johnson said. “In which then he will start providing some specifications for the study and the findings. ”
Johnson said he sees ADA compliance as an important issue in Fentress County.
“This county comes down through TDOT with a lot of funds and stuff like that. You need to be compliant,” Johnson said. “Or you need to be at least making that step or effort to do some of these projects.”
The Fentress County Board of Commissions will meet on Monday, October 15.
