Fentress Ag Pavilion Hoping For August Or September Completion

Fentress County’s new agricultural pavilion making good progress.

County Executive Jimmy Johnson said that the pavilion south of Jamestown will hopefully be completed by August or September.

“They poured the footers, they poured the floors, the building is on-site” “So they’ll start erecting that building here before long, and then as soon as they can get it under roof, of course, they’ll start on the insides.”

Johnson said that the new pavilion will house the Agriculture Extension Offices, community rooms, and a covered arena area. He said it will be used for ag shows, 4-H events, and an arena behind it. Johnson said that this could also be used as a market for cattle sales for farmers in Fentress County.

The county purchased 15 acres about five miles south of Jamestown for the facility. Johnson said that the facility costs some $1.3 million. He said that a USDA loan and a partial state agricultural grant are helping to fund the project.
