Fall Creek Falls Inn Construction On Schedule

The rebuilding of the Inn at Fall Creek Falls State Park remains on schedule for a fall 2021 completion.

Department of General Services spokesman David Roberson said the $40 million dollar project hopes to provide guests a more up-to-date experience.

“The work is going real well,” Roberson said. “The concrete slab work is in process and on schedule. That’s for all levels of the guestroom areas of the lodge. The steel erection has begun and is on schedule. This is the area that includes the kitchen, restaurant, and guest receiving.”

The $29 million dollar project to replace the old inn with a 95,000 square foot facility began in 2018. The budget has since ballooned to over $40 million dollars due to price overruns.

“The old inn was not considered adequate,” Roberson. “It was not up to current standards and was not in the best of condition. So, it was just decided that constructing a new one would be a good idea.”

Roberson said after the building is complete, it will be turned over to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. They would then make the decision on its grand opening date.
