Fairfield Glade Home Invasion Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder

A Crossville man landed behind bars Monday after firing shots during a home invasion.

Authorities charged 29-year-old Andrew Nicholas Rich with two counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of aggravated burglary.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened just after midnight when Rich entered a home on St. George Drive.

A press release indicates Rich fired several rounds through the victim’s bedroom door after repeatedly trying to gain entry. Rich fled the scene and was arrested following a brief vehicle pursuit that ended at the Genesis Road exit of Interstate 40.

Officials said two victims inside the home did not suffer any injuries. The release said Rich may have targeted the residents because of their familiarity with each other.

Rich is being held at the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office on $1 million bond. His initial court appearance will take place June 24.
