Next Thursday, December 19, represents the latest you should be sending Christmas packages to ensure items arrive on time.
That from UPS Store Owner Matt Hall, who said the earlier a package is sent, the less stressful the whole process will be. Hall said the shipping industry has recovered well from the pandemic and delivery dates are now much more reliable around the holidays.
“Unless there’s an issue like weather related, if it’s an ice storm or something like that we can’t guarantee it,” Hall said. “But the nice thing is typically two-day and three-day is not typically guaranteed and right now we are guaranteeing, up to the 19th, two-day and three-day.”
Hall said those who are willing to pay extra can use overnight shipping to have packages delivered before Christmas until December 23. Hall said people need to make sure they are following the company’s packing guidelines to ensure items are handled properly and so the customer can be reimbursed if anything is damaged.
“Some people like to try to reuse, say like an Amazon box,” Hall said. “Well, those Amazon boxes are not UPS standardized packaging, which means that if it gets damaged during the shipping process they’re not going to pay out a claim. I always recommend the best option, which is come to the UPS Store, let us pack for you.”
Hall said customers are guaranteed to get reimbursed for any damaged items packed at and sent from the physical store. Hall said UPS Stores are the only vendors in the UPS system that offer the two-day and three-day delivery guarantees.
“If you go to like, Staples and use their UPS kiosk there, those guarantees are not put in place,” Hall said.
Hall said UPS Store customers will be refunded for the shipping costs of any items that arrive past a guaranteed delivery date.
