Engineer Creating Priority List Of Gainesboro Water And Sewer Lines To Replace

Progress has been made on Gainesboro’s CDBG water and sewer project with camera inspection and cleaning now complete.

Engineer Nathaniel Green said he is now prioritizing the results to see which lines should be replaced through the grant funding.

“I will be getting with Chad later on this month,” Green said. “Probably like a two weeks time just to show him and coordinate and show him the areas that I anticipate we will be able to replace. The by the 31st of this month I’ll have all that into the state like we’re supposed to have.”

Wastewater Manager Chad Scott will work with Green. Green said one issue has arose with degraded lines having homes built on top of the land.

“Basically the only thing you can do for those, and I don’t know if we are going to do it in this particular project, but it would be to coordinate to relocate the sewer line to go behind or around the structure,” Green said.

Green said a significantly damaged line was found near the main state highway in Gainesboro. Green said replacing that line will likely not be feasible in this project.

Along with the priority list, Green said he will find which methods will work best to replace the pipes. Gainesboro was awarded $630,000 through the CDBG grant earlier this year. Some $76,000 was spent to conduct the camera inspections.
