Emergency officials finding widespread flooding this Sunday morning across the Upper Cumberland after five to six inches of rain fell Saturday.
Some parts of Jackson, Smith and Clay Counties received seven to nine inches of rain. The rain will be out of the Upper Cumberland by mid morning Sunday,
In Putnam County, Highway 70 is closed near Clark Road because of water across the highway. Much of the roadway flooding has eased across the county, according to emergency officials. Among areas impacted by flooding across the county:

- Plunk Whitson // Claude Loftis
- Thomas Road at the curve.
- Ditty Rd // Moss Rd.
- Hopewell Rd
- County Farm Rd // Gainesboro Grade
- Cumby Rd. // Gainesboro Grade
- Ditty Rd // Burgess Falls Rd
- Shaw Branch // Martin Creek
- Woodcliff Rd at Crazy George’s Bridge
Overton County 911 reports road issues across the county:
- Rickman Monterey Hwy between Hwy 111 and Rickman Rd Roadway is closed due to water over bridge
- E Howard Rd has water up over bridge.
- Old Railroad Rd covered with water.
- Eckles Cemetery Rd has water over in places
- Frogtown Rd has water up over one side of roadway
- Great Valley Ln
- Hardys Chapel Rd bridge near Owen Reid Ln
- Christian Community Rd water over bridge
- Midway Subdivision Rd water over roadway
- Hodge St CLOSED
- Zachary St PARTIALLY CLOSED
- Tower Hill Rd CLOSED @ Celina Hwy and N Oak intersection
- Cash St CLOSED
Jackson County officials urged residents to stay home Sunday morning. Multiple reports of roads impassable because of flooding. Emergency officials reported several mud and rock slides across the county with trees blocking roadways.
Smith County reported some of the heavier rain amounts. Smith County Rescue Squad, Smith County Sheriff’s Department and Smith County Fire Department are evacuating residents where needed. 911 officials also remind residents do not drive around barricades that have been placed across the roadway.
With the flash flood event, water should subside once the rain ends. Do not try to drive over flooded roadways.
