A Sparta man suffered injuries Saturday when his dump truck overturned in DeKalb County.
The single-vehicle accident happened at 1:30 p.m. on Cookeville Boat Dock Road.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the injured driver as 53-year-old Johnny Jones.
A crash report said Jones failed to maintain his lane of travel while driving down a steep downhill grade. The vehicle overturned after driving off the right side of the road and striking an earth embankment.
A medical helicopter transported Jones to Nashville’s Skyline Medical Center for treatment. His condition remains unknown.
The report indicates that Jones stated the brakes had failed prior to crashing.
