Donaldson Park Renovation Projects Ready To Start Pending Weather

The Clay County Chamber of Commerce is ready to begin on renovations to Donaldson Park.

Executive Director Doug Young said a bid has been received and accepted to resurface the athletic courts and repaint the park fence. Young said prices came within the $25,000 budget set.

“If the weather doesn’t mess us up, we ought to have it ready to go soon,” Young said. “But if the weather remains cold, it will be spring before we can finish the project.”

Young said they had been looking to get these projects going since the park was acquired from the Army Corps of Engineers several months ago. He said they sent out a loose proposal to obtain bids, being able to obtain a bid that met all the specifications being required.

“We just got the park a few months ago from the Corps of Engineers and the city leased it,” Young said. “We’ve been out trying to find some grant money to go in and do some renovation work. So we’ve been at it now for several months.
