Dodson Branch Highway Culvert To Be Replaced For Safety

T-DOT replacing a box culvert on Dodson Branch Highway due to concerns with safety.

Region 3 Community Relations Officer Rae-Anne Bradley said the culvert sits just south of Kinniard Road in Cookeville city limits.

“So the existing structure is very narrow and in need of being replaced,” Bradley said. “This project will require a temporary closure of State Route 135 for the structure to be replaced.”

Bradley said there will be a detour for motorists to take while the work proceeds. She said the project is scheduled for a let to construction in August of this year.

While this is going on, Cookeville will have to conduct a water line replacement in the same area. Water Quality Control Director Barry Turner said part of the line replacement has to be done for the culver to move, and another part will be some much-needed upgrades on lines north of the bridge.
