DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department is partnering with the American Red Cross to do free smoke alarm installations this Saturday.
Lieutenant Dustin Johnson said that service is available to anyone in DeKalb County. He said installations should only take about 15 to 20 minutes.
“Nobody is ever expecting to have a fire,” Johnson said. “It’s one of those things you never know. Just in case it’s always a good idea. Especially when you’re sleeping, you may not even know about it.”
Johnson said that they can also replace old smoke alarms. He said that the newly-installed alarms will come with a 10-year battery.
Those interested can contact Johnson on his cellphone, at (615) 598-2080.
