Cumberland River Hospital Owner Johnny Presley said he is interested in negotiating with Celina officials to reopen the facility.
Presley said Celina passing a resolution supporting the hospital gives him a strong will to bring back medical services.
“Obviously, my goal is to get the hospital reopened for the citizens and residents for Clay County,” Presley said. “Right now, if the city can come through and work with it. Obviously the city has invested interest.”
Presley said he spoke with Mayor Luke Collins Wednesday planning a one-on-one meeting on how to move forward. Presley said he would like this conversation to lead to a work session with stakeholders.
“I would say within the next thirty days for sure,” Presley said. “I guess the real question is if they want to have a work session before the next monthly meeting. Ideally, that would be my recommendation to get the ball rolling.”
Presley said the hospital remains operational despite the closure. Presley said the facility has the equipment to run an operating and emergency room.
“Ninety-five percent of the community wants the hospital back and open,” Presley said. “And, I am interested with sitting down and talking to them to get the hospital back open.”
However, Presley said he is keeping other avenues open for the facility. Presley said he is in talks with a few companies to bring in home health services.
