Cumberland Commissions Approve New Personnel Policy

Cumberland County Commissioners have voted to replace the county’s entire personnel policy.

Mayor Allen Foster said the project began after he hired a new Human Resources Director late last year.

“One of the things we’ve been doing is just going over all our personnel policies. Making sure we’re meeting all the local, state, and federal guidelines,” Foster said. “We’ve finally got that document together and presented it to the commission to have it approved. It was unanimously approves, so we’re moving forward with that.”

The policy changes came from recommendations made by HR Director Brooke Schaffer.

“This is something I’ve been working on since I got here,” Foster said. “We hired a person to be a dedicated human resources professional. You know, with 400 employees and no HR, that’s a strain.”

Foster said employees can review the document by visiting the county website.
