Crossville will consider increasing funding for the Palace Theater from $15,000 to $50,000 in next fiscal year’s budget.
City Manager Greg Wood said the goal is to bring in more popular acts for the community.
“Basically, that is going to come out a wash,” Wood said. “As we bring in some bigger performers, they demand a little bit more ticket price. That basically covers the cost of us doing that.”
Wood said if approved, he anticipates a revenue of $75,000. Wood said the city wants to continue offering quality, affordable entertainment but also keep the facility a community resource.
Wood said the city made back all its money budgeted for performances this fiscal year. Wood said the community could expect more performances such as country music artist Lee Greenwood that came to town earlier this year.
