At the Crossville City Council meeting last night, City Attorney William Ridley reported on the status of the Inn of the Cumberlands. An asbestos study must be undertaken prior to demolition of the dilapidated building. An issue regarding a meth lab previously operated on the premises must also be studied. Once those matters are completed, the city may begin to entertain demolition bids for the once-majestic structure.
He said a prior judgment against the Inn of the Cumberlands property had been vacated, meaning “the city is first in line to collect its money, after taxes.”
Ridley said a satisfactory agreement had been reached with a lienholder against an Old Mail Road property also slated for demolition.
Finally, Ridley reported on the status of the Northwest Connector project; he said five tracts associated with the project have already been cleared, with approximately 10 tracts left.
