Crossroads Shelter Aid of Warren County is celebrating a year of saving dogs this Saturday.
Founder Ashley Bouldin said the organization has scheduled live music and food trucks at the Warren County Farmers Market to acknowledge rescued pets.
“We do more rescue and relocation,” Bouldin said. “And that means we take the adoptable dogs out of over populated areas. We don’t have a very high demand for adoption in our area, and we transport them into areas with a higher demand of adoption.”
Bouldin said the organization works to house animals out of shelters that would otherwise be euthanized. Bouldin said she saw the need first hand with working with other pounds in the area.
“Success in my eyes would be taking a dog that has been thrown away, either they are placed in a shelter or dumped on the side of the road,” Bouldin said. “Success is seeing their mental and behavior rehabilitated and placed into a home where they are loved.”
Bouldin said seeing a pet complete rehab and finding a forever home is why she works in animal rescue. Bouldin said a puppy suffering from a brain injury is one of many stories she has to share.
“He spent a few weeks at my house and was having seizures and all this stuff,” Bouldin said. “We got him into a rescue in New Jersey called Rescue Dogs Rock, and they got him in with a dog neurologist and he is living his best life.”
Bouldin said coming to Saturday’s event will help Crossroads Shelter’s mission to continue. Bouldin said festivities begin at 6:00 p.m.
