Cookeville’s Henley Drive Extension On New Fiscal Year To-Do List

Cookeville has designated the extension of Henley Drive as one of three projects to do this fiscal year.

Public Works Director Blake Mayo said that the project is estimated to cost around some $295,000.

“The need came from relieving some of the traffic from the intersection of Bunker Hill Road and South Jefferson and also the intersection of Sam’s Street and Bunker Hill Road,” Mayo said. “It will give us another access to that subdivision and Bunker Hill Road moving toward the south.”

Mayo said that they also hope to alleviate traffic with the planned four-lane expansion of South Jefferson Avenue. He said that they hope to get started on these projects as soon as possible due to rising costs.

Mayo said that the next step will be to decide which of the three projects to start first out of the Henley Drive expansion, Salem Church Road to England Drive reconnection, and the widening of W. 12th Street.
