A Two-vehicle crash in Putnam County killed a Cookeville woman Tuesday night.
Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 46-year-old Karen Madewell.
The accident happened just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 111 and Quinland Lake Road.
State troopers said Madewell was traveling South on 111 when her Mercury Sable crashed into the left rear of a Lincoln MKX, driven by 46-year-old James Jensen of McMinnville.
A crash report said the impact caused Madwell’s vehicle to spin clockwise, travel across the right lane of 111 and go over an embankment. The passenger side of her vehicle struck a tree and came to a rest facing westbound wrapped around the tree.
Madwell died at the crash scene. Jenson did not suffer injuries.
