A Cookeville woman faces charges for falling asleep in a vehicle with a child inside.
The Cookeville Police Department charged Griselda E. Xum with public intoxication and child abuse and neglect. She has posted bond, but appears in court September 16.
Officers came in contact with Xum on Saturday after locating a vehicle parked near 18th Street and Summerhaven Avenue.
According to the arrest report, Officers encountered Xum sleeping behind the wheel and a 6-year-old child unsecured in the back seat. The report said Xum had red watery eyes and the strong odor of an intoxicating beverage about her breath.
The 38-year-old Xum faces a criminal impersonation charge for allegedly giving officers a false name during her arrest.
