Cookeville city officials will host a special work session next month discussing various road projects across town.
Assistant Planning Director Jon Ward said the planning department met with consulting firm WSP and other department heads on what roads were most in need of improvement.
“There was a total of 48 projects there. We tried to pare that down some through an internal process looking at things from a near-term, mid-term, and long-term perspective,” Ward said. “Then we took the remaining projects through a ranking matrix to try to give the Council some data-driven information so they can make decisions on what kind of street improvements to try and move forward with.”
The highest-ranking project per the planning department’s study was the expansion of East 10th Street to five lanes.
The work session will take place on Monday, June 3 at 2 p.m. preceding the city’s regularly-scheduled council work session.
