Cookeville Police have arrested a man after he broke into an enclosed porch Thursday.
Wade G. Yankee faces charges of aggravated burglary, burglary, theft, evading arrest, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
Officers came in contact with the defendant after responding to a burglary in progress at a Carolina Avenue apartment complex. An arrest warrant said three juveniles observed Yankee removing a screen from the porch window.
Yankee fled the scene and allegedly fought with officers as they tried to arrest him. The report accuses Yankee of stealing a swift water rescue vest and entering an unlocked vehicle at the home.
The defendant will remain behind bars until he can post a $28,998 bond.
