Cookeville PD Seeking Info On Pedestrian Hit And Run

The Cookeville Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a driver who fled a hit-and-run this weekend.

The initial investigation indicates the suspect was driving a black 2012-2013 Kia Optima. The alleged vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on Washington Avenue after fleeing the scene.

At approximately 1:00 AM on Sunday, Cookeville Police responded to the North Washington Avenue and East 10th Street intersection to investigate an accident involving an injured pedestrian. When law enforcement arrived on scene they found 34-year-old Brian Young of Cookeville lying in the roadway.

Young was transported to the Vanderbilt Medical Center in critical condition.

Cookeville Police are encouraging anyone who who might have witnessed the crash but have not spoken with police to call the Traffic Enforcement Division of the Cookeville Police Department. That number is 931-520-5321 or they can call the main station at 931-526-2125.

According to the department, officers are currently working several leads in an attempt to identify the driver. This crash remains under investigation.
