The Cookeville Police Department has launched an investigation into an early Friday morning shooting.
Officers responded to Cookeville Regional Medical Center at 1:25 a.m. after a female arrived suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim informed detectives that a person wearing a dark hoodie approached and shot her as she walked along Jere Whitson Road. The unidentified suspect left the area after firing the shot.
A press release said the shooting remains under investigation.
