Cookeville’s Police Department has completed moving into its new facility on Neal Street.
Major Scott Winfree said that 100 percent of its personnel is at the new facility. He said that the property and evidence are also moved in, but are taking the time to be organized.
“We do have a few things, little odds and ends that vendors will have to come back and complete,” Winfree said. “And I think everybody can relate to the supply chain issue going on, so there are a few things that still won’t get here until the end of the month or maybe August.”
Winfree said that daily business at the new facility is a welcome change. He said that other officers and facility personnel are enjoying the new surroundings, particularly all of the windows that let in natural light.
Winfree said at the old police headquarters on Broad Street most of the business was done in what was essentially a basement. He said that another good aspect of the new headquarters are all of the new amenities at the officers’ disposal.
“All of the amenities, and I use that term, but these are things that a modern police department should have that we have kind of done without,” Winfree said. “But these are things that have really helped the officers and all the employees work.”
