Cookeville Officer Placed On Administrative Leave

A Cookeville Police Officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.

Department officials said Sergeant Shannon Smith self-reported the investigation related to theft of property in another jurisdiction.

A press release said Smith was placed on paid administrative leave in November after the department confirmed that an investigation was being conducted by the Office of the District Attorney General for the 13th Judicial District.

District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway has not yet responded to an email requesting information related to the case.
