A Cookeville man drowned in Center Hill Lake yesterday.
Kenneth Farron Young, 57, was swimming in the Mine Lick Creek area in the Austin Bottom Community when he went under.
Dustin Johnson of the Smithville-Dekalb Rescue Squad said the squad originally reported to the lake for a boat wreck.
“I was told he was swimming and he went under. We were already on the lake for another call when this call came in and we proceeding over there by boat,” Johnson said. “When we got there by boat, they were already doing CPR on the guy. They already had him out of the water. But basically what we did was take over CPR once we got there until the ambulance got there.”
Rescue efforts could not revive Young on the scene.
