Cookeville Man Arrested After Monday Pursuit

A Cookeville man has landed behind bars for a Monday morning vehicle pursuit.

Cookeville Police charged Rocky Joe Smith with evading arrest and driving on a revoked or suspended license.

An arrest warrant said officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle illegally pass two vehicles on Tennessee Avenue. Smith allegedly ignored the officer’s emergency equipment and refused to stop.

The report said Officer Michael Mcdonald pursued the vehicle through the south end of Putnam County and into White County. The chase ended when the officer forced Smith’s vehicle off the road at Burgess Falls and Highway 111.

Smith remains behind bars at the Putnam County Jail. He’s under $2,250 bond.
