Cookeville HS Entrance, Canopy Construction Delayed To Fall

The Cookeville High School canopy and entrance project has been delayed.

Deputy Schools Director Tim Martin said work will not start until this fall. However, Martin said in the current construction climate the system views having a start date that early as a win.

“It’s not just every district in the state of Tennessee, it’s every district in the United States that are doing projects like this,” Martin said. “Every construction company is backlogged and supplies are backlogged.”

The entry door replacement bid was awarded at $170,000. The canopy bids were for a $285,700 base bid, with an alternate in the amount of $76,800 and $77,900.

Martin said canopies on the front and back of the school have been a long time need, that were removed from the original school blue prints.
