Cookeville FD To Start Christmas Cheer Fire Engine Drives

Cookeville Fire Department hoping to get folks in the holiday spirit this season with some festive fire truck visits.

Chief Benton Young said the plan is to decorate one of the department’s reserve fire trucks with Christmas lights and drive around to neighborhoods, senior homes, and the hospital.

“It’s a great opportunity for us as first responders to connect with our community and get out and get into the neighborhood and be involved with the people,” Young said. “And also to spread a little extra holiday cheer this year.”

Young said they wanted to start these festivities last year, but the timing wasn’t right. He said they plan on posting maps of the route on their Facebook page and their website.

Young said the routes will begin the week after Thanksgiving. For more information, call 931-520-5255.
