Cookeville Electric is partnering with the Tennessee Valley Authority to provide free home energy evaluations across the region.
Karen Brown with Cookeville Energy Services said the goal of the service is to help people save money where they can on their energy bill.
“A utility bill is a huge part of our budget,” Brown said. “And if we can look at that and be kind of in control of that, I think that is really important to people to be able to save wherever they can and this is just one more opportunity. We can give you tips to be able to save money.”
Brown said there are nine different aspects evaluators look at, including insulation, appliances, electronics, doors, windows and ducts.
She said that the service can be either virtual or in-person. Brown said the service is ideally just for home-owners, but that if renters want the service they could potentially have their landlord apply.
At the end of the day, Brown said they just want to help their customers.
“If there’s programs that we can help our customers to become more energy efficient, we’re always ready to partner,” Brown said. “And TVA is a great resource. You know we’re kind of a smaller utility, but they can provide those advisors and the reports to our customers. We just want to help our customers become more in control of their bill.”
Brown said to register for this service, you can go to Cookeville Electric’s services site, or call 1 (855) 237-2673.
