Cookeville Council To Consider Emergency Repair For Fire Department

The Cookeville City Council will consider an emergency expenditure for the fire department during Thursday’s meeting.

Chief Daryl Blair said the tower one aerial device has a defective part that needs to be replaced.

“The problem is it’s drifting and can rotate on itself right now,” Blair said. “It’s out of commission, as far as fire and rescue efforts. It’s a 2001, so it’s got a lot of wear and tear on it and we just need to get it fixed.”

EVS Mid-South has submitted a $13,697 quote for repairing the part. Blair said the department has one other tower truck available.

“We have a ladder,” Blair said. “The tower is the one with the bucket. It’s 100 foot, and the ladder is a 75-foot stick with no platform on it. It’s an 08 or 09 I believe.”

Cookeville City Council meets Thursday at 5:30 p.m. inside city hall.
