Cookeville City Council set to reject the bid for the Leslie Town Center roof repair Thursday night.
At a Monday Council work session, City Manager James Mills said that the lone bid at $120,500 did not meet the required specs.
“The primary area of concern was the material specified for the flat portion of the roof, we couldn’t get anybody to bid on that material,” Mills said. “So we’re going to change that spec and rebid and hopefully get multiple bids this time.”
Mills said that most of the roofing at the Leslie Town Center and Chamber building is original to the facility’s construction.
He said that they were planning to use a portion of their ARP funds for the work.
Earlier this year, council members agreed to pay for the roof repairs as COVID had impacted revenues at the Leslie Town Center.
