Cookeville-based artist Delnora has released four new Christmas songs to represent her favorite time of year.
Delnora said the songs take inspiration from Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton, and Emmylou Harris. Delnora said the songs are completely original with no covers or mashups of classic holiday tunes.
“It’s the time when we’re all getting along here,” Delnora said. “We’ve finished the politics season, the election season that is, and everybody lets some of their differences go during this time of year. And we all come together in unity and I think that’s why I just, I needed it, my heart needed it, and I felt like I wasn’t the only one.”
Delnora said she is putting together a limited edition release of the songs on CD due to popular demand. Delnora said she has been making music for years but has never worked on her own solo Christmas album until now.
“I think it’s the first time in my career that I’ve had more (demand), and maybe because it’s Christmas time, I don’t know,” Delnora said. “But I love it. I maybe give the songs credit because they’re great.”
Delnora said she wrote the songs with award-winning songwriter Corey Lee Barker. Delnora said she will release a full Christmas album next year that will have its own proper distribution cycle.
“We have these as pitches to Hallmark and Great American Family,” Delnora said. “That was really what we were looking at, we’re like, we’re going to pitch these out to them because they’re just fun.”
The songs are available to stream on music services such as Spotify and Apple Music. Delnora said she hopes listeners can feel her love for the season through the songs.
“I have an eight-year-old and he seems to enjoy them,” Delnora said. “I always think that’s a good sign when I write a song and then I hear him humming or singing in the background. I’m like, well there you go. It’s catchy. We got it.”
