Cookeville To Address HVAC Unit At City Hall

Cookeville City Council will vote Thursday on the first reading of the new fiscal year budget.

The proposed budget calls for a property tax rate of 84 cents, unchanged from the 2017-18 fiscal year.

During a Monday evening work session, City Manager Mike Davidson said funding will be set aside to address the HVAC unit at City Hall.

“As you know, the last couple of weeks we have struggled with the HVAC unit here at city hall. It’s a 55-year-old system,” Davidson said. “What we are proposing is using some fund balance to hire a consultant to come in and look at the facility to make some recommendations and put a bid package together to update the HVAC unit.”

The city has also set aside funding for several upcoming projects including the new police station and Dogwood Park expansion.
