Construction On Housing Authority’s Next Development Starts

Highlands Residential Services’ newest housing development is set to start construction this week.

Director of Operations Chris Cassetty said Hickory Valley will be a seven building development with 48 total units.

“We have been waiting for several months to get everything finalized to get our funding in place,” Cassetty said. “We got that done this past week. Got that done on Monday in fact, and our contractor is mobilized and on site.”

Cassetty said the project should take about 15 months to complete. Cassetty said the development is located directly behind the new Oak Tree Towers off of Buffalo Valley Road.

“We expect that they would start actual construction on the buildings Monday,” Cassetty said. “They’ll have to pour foundation and start with that. We’re excited to see some two by fours go up in the air.”

Cassetty said the development will consist of a mixture of 1,2 and 3 bedroom units. Cassetty said applications for the housing will not open until some time next year.
