Composting, Mulching, Bagging Recommended For Final Leaf Cleanup

With warm weather on the forecast, many will take the opportunity to make some final leaf cleanups before the winter.

Van Buren Ag Extension Director Chris Binkley said there are plenty of options to clean your yard.

“What I like to do though is to mulch them,” Binkley said. “Just take your lawn mower and run over them until they get into very small particles, because that way that kind of gives organic matter back to your yard.”

Binkley said composting, bagging or burning are also viable options. Binkley said diseases to grass and rodent breeding are more common if a yard is covered by leaves entering the winter.
