Putnam County may soon have a set of procedures to follow for naming county and state property.
County Mayor Randy Porter said the county commission requested the procedures after naming an Interstate 40 overpass bridge last year.
“We went back and the Public Records Commission met last month,” Porter said. “Anybody wanting to name something would come through my office first, it would then go to the Public Records Commission for their recommendation and then to the county commission.”
Porter said the county commission would have to approve the naming by a two-thirds majority vote.
The Putnam County Planning Committee approved the procedure recommendation during Monday’s meeting. The full county commission will consider the recommendation Monday, April 15th.
