The Livingston Property Maintenance Advisory Committee could not address all property complaints Monday following the retirement of the codes administrator Darius Sims.
Chair of the Committee Barbie Roberts said the group may not have all the updated investigation information.
“We have a little bit of an issue here in the fact that our codes administrator has retired. We don’t know,” Roberts said. “We have pictures but we don’t know much about the investigation. And I guess we could just table everything until we get a new codes administrator.”
City Attorney John Meadows said he believes the council will appoint a codes administrator before the next Property Maintenance meeting.
“I would assume that the city would at lease designate someone to serve as a substitute until a full-time replacement comes,” Meadows said.
Despite not having Sims present, the committee found two properties in violation of maintenance codes, including 719 Hi-Tech Drive and 301 E. University Street.
Homeowners of the two properties were present. Further action on complaints will wait until the next committee meeting on May 28.
