Collision Leads to Arrest of Monterey Man

A Monterey man faces multiple charges following a collision Wednesday.

Authorities arrested 37-year-old Jarrad Pechie for leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.

Officers initially stopped for a stranded motorist on S. Jefferson Avenue at I-40. The motorist said the black truck entering East I-40 had hit his vehicle.

Authorities stopped the truck at the Hwy 111 off-ramp and identified Pechie as the driver. Pechie admitted to the earlier collision.

Pechie had a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage.  Authorities also reported that Pechie was unsteady on his feet and used the truck to balance himself.

Arrest warrants indicate that Pechie failed to perform 3 field sobriety tests and admitted to taking double shots of strong liquor that evening.

Authorities booked Pechie into the Putnam County Jail on a $750 bond. Pechie has since posted bail.
