Clay County’s new Property Assessor Angie Eads said that she wants to continue a fair and equitable assessment process for the county.
Eads said that she’s served in the office as Deputy Assessor for the past 16 years. She said that she wanted to take the position to continue the legacy of her predecessor Billy Smith, who passed away in January.
“When you deal in this kind of work you need to be fair to everyone out there,” Eads said. “Because we have a lot of people who are on a fixed income and you know, we’re a smaller community so we just need to be fair and equal with everyone.”
Eads said that she will continue to do her best working for Clay County just as she has for the last several years.
“I’ve had this job for 16 years now,” Eads said. “So I’ve been Billy’s deputy clerk for 16 years now. So when he passed away, I know that he would want me to do this. So that’s why I wanted to get appointed.”
Eads will finish out the term, which ends in August. She said that she does plan to run for a full term in the upcoming election.
