Clay Commissioners Will Wait On Revenue Numbers

The Clay County Commissioners will wait for this year’s final revenue numbers before voting on a new fiscal year budget.

County Mayor Dale Reagan said those numbers have not yet been completed. Commissioners expect to have the final revenue numbers sometime in July

“That is when we will get the bottom line for everybody,” Reagan said. “We know that our expenditures went up there is no doubt about that and we know that we got some growth. Our sales taxes went up and, but we wont know the bottom line until she collects all the revenue and we look at it and see.”

Commissioners have heard additional needs this month from the sheriffs office, schools, and the ambulance service. Reagan said he does not believe the increases to be drastic.

Reagan said the commissioners will likely vote on the budget by early August.

“The comptrollers office wants you to have a budget passed by June 30,” Reagan said. “And your new fiscal year starts July 1. We have never done that because we want you all to have good figure to look at exactly what the budget is gonna be.”

In other business, the commissioners approved resolutions to lower the speed limits for Price Town Road in Whitleyville to 30 mph and Amos McClerran Road in Celina to 15 mph.
