Clay Co. HS Seeing High Student Enrollment

Clay County High School seeing historically high enrollment levels.

Principal Teia Arms said the school typically averages around 320 students. They are currently seeing 330 students, and expect that number to grow especially with the influx of residents moving in.

“Most of the parents or guardians that we’ve talked to are moving to this area because it’s rural,” Arms said. “We have a lot of land, we’re around lakes, and they’re coming to these areas from these big cities.”

Arms said the school is fine to handle the capacity right now. She said the classroom number is hovering at around 32 students, nearing the state’s cap of 35.

Arms said if the trend continues as expected, they’ll have to add an additional faculty.
