Clay County Commission has accepted the bid for paving work by the ambulance service building.
Mayor Dale Reagan said that the low bid came from Edmonds Paving at some $74,000. He said when it was first constructed, the county was only able to pay for paving at the front part of the building.
“We’re thankful our highway department cam in and they chipped it,” Reagan said. “But we still have a lot of problems you know with gravel picking up in their tires and stuff when they pull in the building. So asphalt is going to be good. And we’re doing this out of the governor’s support money.”
Reagan said that two other bids came in at $126,000 and $90,000. He said that all bids were submitted using 2021 cost estimates and data.
Reagan said that the work will also extend to the county services building.
“I always call this a one-stop shopping center for the citizens down here,” Reagan said. “So we’ve got to keep this place well-maintained. And by doing that,t we’re going to be able to pave all the way around even to the back where the attorneys come in and even the inmates when they need to come to court. “
