Center Hill Lake Resource Management Office Holding Workshop For Shoreline Management Plan Updates

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Center Hill Lake Resource Management Office is holding a public workshop for its shoreline management plan update.

Center Hill Resource Management Biologist Gary Bruce said they try to update the plan every few years.

“There are lots of opportunities that Center Hll provides and we have to balance the demand on the resources,” Bruce said. “And the shoreline management plan is a document that helps us do that to ensure the resources are there for future generations to come.”

Bruce said they are requesting public comment to make sure any potential issues from the community are addressed. Bruce said this document will not be vastly different from the last time the plan was updated in 2016.

Bruce said proposed updates to the plan include improving access for existing grandfathered docks, along with other minor changes that clarify the intent and purpose of the plan.

“The plan guides the operation and the protection of the natural resources at Center Hill Lake,” Bruce said. “It’s a document we update routinely about every five years. And the goal is to ultimately ensure that the natural resources that surround Center Hill Lake and the water quality and the aesthetics are protected.”

The workshop will be held Tuesday, January 31st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the DeKalb County Community Complex in Smithville.
