The 3rd annual Moonshine Runners Car Show is returning to Celina’s historic courthouse square on Saturday.
Moonshine Daze Committee Vice President Nikki Blakely said after last year’s cancellation, the event is here to stay. Blakely said everything from rat rods to Chevy Bel Airs are welcome to register.
“The year before, we had the Dukes of Hazzard cars show up,” Blakely said. “Several of your Chevy’s, your Mopar’s, basically anything. We’ve had motor cycles show up. Basically, everybody will bring out whatever they have and just have a good time.”
Blakely said that car registration will run from 9:00 AM until noon. She said the first car is a $15 entry, with additional cars being $10 each.
She said attendees get judging cards to select award winners, but the top prize is getting selected by one specific person that fits the event’s theme.
“It’s people’s choice, they go around and we give them judging cards so people don’t say, ‘oh this person knows this person,’ nope the public does the judging,” Blakely said. “We do awards afterwards, the top 40 awards then we have the people’s choice award. Then we have a moonshiner’s choice award, so our local moonshiner will pick the vehicle that he likes best.”
Blakely said there will be food vendors offering nearly any carnival style food you can imagine. She said the car show will be a great chance to get the whole family out.
“This is definitely a family event, from the oldest of hearts to the youngest of hearts,” Blakely said. “There’s going to be a car for everyone there. There’s cars, trucks, motorcycles. We’re going to have the old time music playing, the up to date music playing. We’ll have food vendors, door prizes for our entries, 50/50 drawings. So yes, the whole family definitely will enjoy this.”
Blakely said everyone should make their way to West Lake Avenue in Celina if they’re attending. She said people will be stationed at each end of the street for parking assistance.
